One Injured in Single-Car Crash; House Fire Rekindles in Leake

A house fire rekindled and a car crash left one person injured on Monday, January 13 in Leake.

Carthage firefighters were called back to Waggoner Rd. after a house fire that occurred Sunday evening rekindled. Crews quickly extinguished the flames.

A vehicle crashed into a tree on Laurel Hill Rd. near Martin Rd. at around 5:30 p.m. Leake County Deputies, EMS, and Madden Volunteer firefighters responded. The driver, who complained of chest and back pain, was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
