PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–If you ever believe your vote doesn’t count, Leroy Clemons could probably tell you different. He lost his alderman at large seat in Philadelphia this year by one vote: 670 to 669.
On Jan. 21, the Neshoba County Circuit Court will hold a jury trial to determine if he actually is the winner.
Clemons claims there were problems recording the votes on the machines, problems correctly certifying affidavit ballots and improper security, leading to James Waltman’s victory.
The trial was originally scheduled for October, but was rescheduled for January when a witness tested positive for coronavirus.
