Possible Accidental Shooting, Grass Fires, and more Wednesday in Leake

On Wednesday, November 22 just after 12:30 p.m., Ofahoma Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call reporting a grass fire out of control on Willis Rd.  Firefighters worked to get the blaze under control and extinguished.

Marydell Volunteers were dispatched to a brush fire on Hwy 25 N near Mars Hill Rd. at 2:43 p.m.  Firefighters extinguished the flames.

Carthage Police Department received a call from Baptist Hospital Leake Emergency department stating that there was a patient there with a gunshot wound.  The patient claimed they were riding around with another person and accidentally shot themselves with their gun.  Carthage Police Department is investigating this matter.

Carthage Police responded to a call requesting extra patrol on Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. just before 10 p.m.  The caller stated that her friend’s ex-boyfriend had come to the residence harassing them and causing a disturbance multiple times already.
