MORTON, MS – Disaster-trained workers with the American Red Cross of Alabama and Mississippi are helping dozens of people after today’s weather front brought strong storms, a tornado and heavy rains through parts of the state.

Currently, the Red Cross has opened a shelter:

  • Scott County:

2149 Mississippi 13, Morton MS

All disaster assistance is FREE and available to everyone.
Red Cross teams are on the ground assessing damages in affected communities. If anyone was affected by the storms and/or flooding and needs help, please give us a call at 1-800-RED-CROSS. We are committed to help those impacted recover from these storms.

Safety tips:

Disasters are upsetting experiences for everyone involved. Children, senior citizens, people with disabilities and people for whom English is not their first language are especially at risk and are likely to need extra care and help. But everyone, even the people that others look up to for guidance and assistance, is entitled to their feelings and deserves support throughout the recovery process.

To reach out for free 24/7 counseling or support, contact the Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990 or text “TalkWithUs’ to 66746.
