A local water association’s stolen excavator has been recovered in Leake County along with the stolen trailer the thieves used to haul it away. Sheriff Randy Atkinson says the machine and the trailer were found Monday in the St. Ann community northwest of Carthage. The theft happened Aug. 18 in the Good Hope community north of Lena. The trailer had been taken from a logging company. The investigation is continuing.
