KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A truck that was reported stolen in Alabama was sighted by an Attala County deputy and a chase ensued when the deputy attempted to pull the truck over.
Saturday afternoon Kosciusko Police and Attala deputies were put on alert that a Chevy Silverado 2500 that had been reported stolen was headed down Hwy. 19 and was expected to enter Kosciusko.
A deputy spotted the truck on Hwy. 12 shortly before 6:30 p.m. and followed it, putting on his blue lights at the Exxon on Hwy. 12.
Before backup arrived the driver hit the gas, headed west on Hwy. 12 and out of town. Kosciusko Police and Attala County deputies pursued the truck.
The chase got up to 80 mph near McAdams.
When the chase got into Durant the truck blew through the four-way stop. He then made a left and went off the road and crashed on Hwy. 12 west.
The person was in custody and an ambulance was called.
Holmes County had no ambulances available and the man had to be driven for medical care by police.
