There’s damage across mainly western Mississippi after severe storms rolled through the state last night.  Two of the warnings were issued for Holmes County but the National Weather Service hasn’t received any reports of damage there.  Trees and powerlines were knocked down across the Delta with possible damage to a building at the Greenville airport.  A house and two vehicles were damaged by falling trees in Moorhead. And farther south,  a tree fell on a house in Warren County.  There was tree damage in several locations in Madison County.  In the eastern part of the state,  some trees and power lines were blown down in Jasper County.  As of 4 this morning, power companies were reporting more than 18,000 outages across Mississippi including about 600 in Madison County.

The weather system that produced last night’s storms will also be responsible for some relief from the heat.  Instead of triple digits, most of the local area will see highs only in the lower 90s today with lows in the upper 60s tonight, middle 60s tomorrow night and lower 60s Wednesday night.
