Tuesday Was Busy for Law Enforcement in Leake

Law enforcement and emergency crews responded to several incidents throughout Tuesday, February 18.

Carthage Police were called to a residence on N. Jordan St. just before 1 a.m. after a homeowner reported hearing loud noises. Officers checked the area but found no suspicious activity.

At 5:47 a.m., Leake County Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 35 near the Hwy 25 exit. No injuries were reported.

Another minor accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 35 and Hwy 16 in Carthage, with no reported injuries.

At 5:15 p.m., firefighters from Madden Volunteer Fire Department and Leake Correctional responded to a woods fire on Bose Nukse Creek Rd. and worked quickly to extinguish the flames.

Deputies also handled a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife on Hwy 43 near Beamon Rd. at 5:45 p.m.
