NEWTON COUNTY, Miss.–Two people died in a Saturday night wreck in Newton County.
The crash happened on I-20 in the eastbound lanes, and involved four cars, one of which burned. It was unclear how the wreck happened.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Newton County Sheriff’s Dept., and several other agencies responded to the crash, which had traffic backed up for several miles.
Traffic was routed onto Hwy. 80 as a detour while the wreck was cleared up.
The identities of the people killed were not released by Sunday morning.
