**UPDATE**
Leake County Coroner, Earl Adams has confirmed the identity of the male who died in the crash to be 18-year-old Brian Cockroft of Leake County.
Leake County Deputies, EMS, and Madden Volunteer Firefighters responded to a crash on Galilee Rd. at 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The driver, whose identity has not been released at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Authorities have stated that while the cause of the crash remains unknown, it appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle reportedly left the roadway and crashed into a tree before igniting in flames.
