Arrest Made in Friday Shooting on Tribal Land

CHOCTAW, Miss.–A man was shot Friday in the Pearl River Community, on tribal lands belonging to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. A 20-year-old reservation resident was arrested and charged in the incident.

According to a news release from the Choctaw Police Dept., the shooting happened near the intersection of Oswald Rd. and Duplex Dr.

The news release did not explain specifically what happened, but did say that the victim was taken to a local hospital and then to UMMC in Jackson. The extent of his injuries was unclear.

Arrested was Braden Robert Townsend. The charge was not specified.

Authorities are asking anyone with any further information about the shooting to call Choctaw Police.
