PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–Three people were shot Friday evening in Neshoba County. At least one of the people was shot with a shotgun. The shooting happened when a brother and sister were arguing with a neighbor.
The call was at 7:15 p.m. on County Rd. 402, near the Leake County line, where it intersects with Hwy. 488 in the Standing Pine Madden community.
One person was taken to the ER in Philadelphia. It wasn’t clear from police radio traffic whether that person was taken there by ambulance or by a private vehicle. While deputies were questioning that victim, Sheriff Eric Clark was on his way to the scene of the shooting.
Once he got there, he reported a second person shot in the yard. That victim had been shot with a shotgun.
Shortly after calling for another ambulance, the sheriff and deputies located a Ruger 9 mm pistol that had been used in the shooting. Deputies were having trouble locating the shotgun.
Two of the victims that were taken to the ER in Philadelphia were flown out by helicopter.
Another person was treated and released.
Clark posted on Facebook that the shooting happened around 7:15 when a brother and sister got into an argument with a neighbor. They were hit by bullets from the 9 mm. The neighbor was shot with the shotgun.
