The average price of gas in Mississippi has climbed above $4 again. AAA says the statewide average is close to $4.02 this morning, the highest it’s been since the first of March when prices skyrocketed as the war with Iran got underway. The auto club says we first touched $4 a gallon two weeks ago before falling back and again last week before prices eased once more. Wednesday, the statewide average was back above $4 again. AAA says in this area, most countywide average prices are above $4, including $4.08 in Neshoba County, $4.05 in Choctaw County, $4.04 in Leake and Winston counties, $4.03 in Holmes County and $4.01 in Attala County. The cheapest average price in this area is in Montgomery County at $3.92 and the highest in Carroll County at $4.16.
Again, these are all average prices countywide and individual stations can be a good bit lower. In Carthage, for example, GasBuddy.com says you can still fill up for as little as $3.75 a gallon and in Kosciusko, Gas Buddy says the lowest price is $3.89.
