She gave me the first piece back on May 28, 1998, when we first met. She gave me another piece on July 30, 1999. She gave me three more pieces back when our children were born Russ, Jack, and Cale. I get small pieces in her smile and her love each and every day. To start with, she is a single mother of a 12-year-old little boy, Mikey, whom she puts before herself every moment of every day. He was the only guy I had ever met that was a God-loving boy. I could tell him anything and he always knew what to say. But sadly he was killed in an ATV accident on May 27, 2014. He I know he still protects me and helps me. He said mommy Mammaw has always been my valentine but this year she can’t. She passed away in September. I told him that she could still be his valentine. So he wants me to sent in his valentine to you. He said he was going to still take her flowers to her grave. I was the first grandchild born right after he retired, and I’m also the last grandchild he had. From the time I was old enough to walk, we spent each and every day together. He is my best friend, and I have always admired his selfless and loving heart. He’s sacrificed so much while being the pastor of my church for 44 years, but I know that when Jesus calls him home, he will have a special place.
