Hay bale blocking traffic, fires, and more Thursday in Leake

Carthage Police were called to a residence on Lewis St. at 12:14 a.m. to remove someone from the property.

Leake County Deputies responded to a call reporting a disturbance in progress at a residence on Kit Lewis Rd. just after 7 a.m.

Reformation Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to an out-of-control brush fire on Hwy 35 N near the Singleton area just after noon.  MS Forestry was called in to assist.

Leake County Deputies were called to a residence on Daugherty Rd. for a possible break-in at 12:30 p.m.

Marydell Volunteers and MDOT were dispatched to Hwy 25 N near Loop Rd. at 3:19 p.m. when a caller reported a large round bale of hay was blocking one lane of traffic.  The hay bale was removed and the roadway cleared.

Leake County Deputies and MS Hwy Patrol were alerted to a minor two-vehicle crash on Hwy 35 in front of Tyson at 4:20 p.m.  No injuries were reported.

Thomastown Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a woods fire on St. Anne Rd. just before 5 p.m.  The blaze was extinguished soon after firefighters arrived on scene.

Carthage Police investigated reports of a possible gunshot heard on E Franklin St. at 9:27 p.m.  Nothing was found and others in the area stated they did not hear any shots fired.
