The severe weather in Mississippi has claimed a second life.   The Highway Patrol says Shanika Newton, 43, of Tchula was driving home late Wednesday night when her car ran off Highway 49E near the Leflore-Holmes county line and overturned in a flooded ditch.   Investigators believe her car was swept off the highway by floodwaters and that Newton, a nurse, drowned when she was unable to escape the car.

The first storm-related fatality was in Scott County , where an elderly woman died late Tuesday after her supplemental oxygen supply was lost due to a power outage.
