Busy Tuesday for First Responders in Leake

Leake County law enforcement worked several incidents Tuesday, responding to various emergencies. Around midnight, law enforcement stopped a vehicle speeding over 115 mph. At 7 a.m., Leake County Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Starling Center Rd., and at 9:30 a.m., Carthage Police went to a disturbance call at a tire shop on Hwy 35.

At 12:30 p.m., Carthage Police managed a collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 35 and Hwy 16. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Later, emergency responders, including Carthage Police, Carthage Fire, and EMS, attended to a two-vehicle crash near the Exxon on Hwy 35 S, where one person taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At nearly 8 p.m., Madden Volunteer Fire Department, Leake County Deputies, and MS Hwy Patrol were called to Hwy 488 near Turtleneck Rd. after a vehicle collided with a cow; no injuries were reported.
