Reuben Weeks, Accused Killer of Shondra May, Dies in Jail

SCOTT COUNTY, Miss.–Reuben Weeks, the man accused of the 1986 abuction, rape and murder of Shondran May, of Scott County, died in jail Saturday, reports WLBT.

The cause of death was unknown, but the sheriff’s department said no foul play was suspected.

Weeks, 63, was ordered held without bond last week. He had been arrested in April.

May, who was a resident of Forest and a student at Leake Academy, was murdered just before her 18th birthday. Her body was found three weeks after she went missing near Bolton, in Hinds County.

When Weeks was arrested he had been living in an RV park in Madison County and had health troubles, requesting a wheelchair while in custody.

The investigation into his death is being handled by the Miss. Bureau of Investigation.
