The National Weather Service has determined that the storm damage which occurred in Neshoba County May 6th was the result of straight-line winds and large hail, not a tornado. A survey team from the NWS office in Jackson examined the damage this week and found no evidence of a tornado touchdown.
The severe weather outbreak produced eight tornadoes in other parts of the state including the EF-3 storm which hit Adams, Wilkinson, Franklin, Lincoln and Lawrence counties. NWS now says the tornado’s path of damage was almost 82 miles long.
