Early Release Leake County SD
In anticipation of severe weather conditions, and to ensure the safety of all the district's staff and students, the Leake County School District will run a two hour early release schedule on 3/4/2025.
All after school activities will also be cancelled.

Woods Fire Fought on Mars Hill Rd.
CARTHAGE, Miss.--Several volunteer fire agencies reponded to a woods fire Wednesday evening on Mars Hill Rd.
The call came in about 7 p.m.

Deputies Investigate Stabbing Threat
CARTHAGE, Miss.--Leake County deputies investigated a threat Wednesday evening about 6:30 on Nichols Rd.
The incident was called in by a woman who said her brother had a knife and was threatening to stab her.
It was unclear if an arrest was made.
Grass Fire Gets Out of Control Wednesday Afternoon
CARTHAGE, Miss.--A grass fire got out of control Wednesday afternoon on Midway Rd. in Leake County.
Marydale volunteer firefighters were called out about 1:15 to handle it. Other volunteer departments assisted in getting it under control.
