Mississippi will opt-out of additional federal unemployment benefits. Governor Reeves announced that he has informed MDES to direct the Biden Administration that Mississippi will be opting out of the additional federal unemployment as early as federal law allows, which is Jun 12th. Reeves went on to say “that we can’t have a full economic recovery until the thousands of available jobs in our state are filled.” Alabama, Arkansas, Montana and South Carolina are also planning to stop accepting the additional federal supplement according to the Associated Press.
