(CDC flu map shows Mississippi in green indicating “minimal” flu activity)

In most areas, Mississippi’s flu season continues to fizzle with the number of cases dropping back to where they were last November.   Doctors who treated almost 15,000 patients across the state during the week ending March 14th reported only about 300 suspected flu cases.  That drops our flu rate to two per cent which the CDC classifies as “minimal”.  Wyoming and Hawaii are the only other states with flu activity that low.   But there’s one local public health district in Mississippi where the flu is still a problem.  In the district which includes Attala, Holmes, Carroll and Montgomery counties and much of the Delta, the flu rate has climbed to over 10 per cent, the highest since the middle of February.
