The number of suspected flu cases reported to the State Health Department for the week ending March 7 was fewer than 400 resulting in a flu rate of 2.6 per cent, the lowest since early December. The CDC is now classifying flu activity in Mississippi as “minimal” and says we’re one of two states with the least amount of flu nationwide, the other being Wyoming. Compare that with our neighboring states– CDC says there’s a “moderate” amount of flu in Louisiana and Alabama while flu activity in Arkansas and Tennessee is still classified as “high.”
Mississippi’s flu rate has fallen for three weeks in a row after peaking the middle of last month.
