Francine Heads North, Power Restoration Continues

Tropical Depression Francine is moving into north Mississippi this afternoon but a wind advisory remains in effect until 7 pm for much of the state including the local area.  Gusts up to 35 miles an hour are possible on the back side the tropical system.

Power outage update: As of 1:30 pm, fewer than 20,000 homes and businesses across the state were without electricity.   In Attala County, fewer than 600 customers are without power, with about 400 outages in Leake County and fewer than 900 in Neshoba County.
