A Kosciusko lottery player is celebrating a big win after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000.
The ticket was sold at Tobacco Warehouse 41 in Kosciusko and matched four of the five white balls plus the Powerball in Wednesday night’s drawing. The ticket initially won $50,000, but the player had added the $1 Power Play option, which doubled the prize to $100,000.
Mississippi Lottery officials confirmed the win as one of two significant prizes claimed in the state from the drawing. No ticket matched all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot.
With no jackpot winner, the Powerball jackpot continues to climb. The estimated jackpot for the next drawing, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, is $102 million, with an estimated cash value of $46.1 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with Power Play and Double Play options available for an additional $1 each. Tickets must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. CT on drawing nights.
