KPD needs your help to stop Kosciusko shootings

A man was hospitalized during the New Year holiday when he was shot in the back on Old Vaiden Rd. in Kosciusko.

Kosciusko Police received a call from Baptist Attala Hospital at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2024 alterting them to a gunshot victim in the ER.  Officers went to Old Vaiden Rd. where the shooting was said to have happened.  Investigators at the scene discovered a vehicle that had been driven by the victim with several bullet holes.  Several 7.62 rifle bullet casings and some 9mm casings were found at the scene of the shooting.  The victim was airlifted from Baptist Attala to a hospital in Jackson and has sense been released.

This was not the only shooting in Kosciusko during the holiday.  Kosciusko Police were dispatched to a home on Westwood Dr. at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 31st.  A home was shot several times as well as a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.  Numerous .223 and 9mm casings were found in the roadway.  No one was injured in this incident.
