Leake Central Boys Powerlifting Team Places Fourth at South State Meet

The Leake Central High School boys powerlifting team finished fourth overall at the South State meet, with several lifters earning spots in the upcoming state championship.

Two Leake Central lifters captured South State titles in their respective weight classes. Isiah Tate won the 220-pound weight class, while Derrian Primer took first place in the 308-pound weight class.

Additional strong performances helped the team secure its fourth-place finish. Lenaro Nash placed second in the 123-pound weight class.

Third-place finishers included Jeramiah Tolleson in the 123-pound weight class, Adrian Tate in the 275-pound weight class, and Michael Land in the super heavyweight class.

Also competing for Leake Central was senior Christian Griffin.

Tate’s performance highlighted the meet for Leake Central, as he set South State meet records with a 585-pound squat and a 1,470-pound total.

The lifters who qualified at the South State meet will now advance to the state powerlifting championship in Jackson on March 28.
