The flu bug won’t go away in Mississippi.  The State Health Department says we’ve actually seen an increase in the flu rate statewide, with 5.3 per cent of patients who went to a doctor’s office complaining of  flu-like symptoms.  That compares to an adjusted rate of 4.7 per cent the previous week.  When you drill down to the local numbers, the flu rate in the public health district which includes Attala and Holmes counties has dropped to 29 per cent, still by far the highest in Mississippi.  The second-highest flu rate continues to be in the health district which include Leake and Neshoba counties, where it’s increased to above 12 per cent.
