With winds easing up, the National Weather Service won’t be issuing a Red Flag Warning today but is cautioning the public to heed burn bans because dangerous fire conditions, including low humidity and critically dry vegetation, still exist. NWS says there’s a limited risk of wildfires today but the danger is expected to increase during the coming week with no rain forecast.
Thirty-five Mississippi counties, including Attala, Leake, Holmes, Carroll, Montgomery and Winston, remain under burn bans.
While overnight lows are forecast to continue in the 40s next week, afternoon highs will climb back into the 80s starting Tuesday.
