The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of southeastern Leake County, northern Newton County, and Neshoba County until 2:00 p.m. CDT.
At 1:01 p.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm located near Madden, about 10 miles southeast of Carthage, moving east at approximately 35 miles per hour.
Forecasters say the storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail. These conditions may result in hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Communities expected to be impacted by the storm include:
- Dixon, Madden, and Dowdville around 1:05 p.m.
- Philadelphia and Pearl River around 1:10 p.m.
- Neshoba around 1:15 p.m.
- Union and Tucker around 1:20 p.m.
- Bethsaida around 1:25 p.m.
- House around 1:30 p.m.
- Forestdale around 1:35 p.m.
- Herbert Springs around 1:40 p.m.
