6:00 pm UPDATE -Authorities Release Photo of Suspect; Public Warned Not to Approach
KOSCIUSKO, Miss. — The Carthage Police Department has shared a notice from the Attala County Sheriff’s Office seeking a suspect in connection with the shooting that left two people dead Sunday afternoon in Attala County.
Authorities released an image of the suspect and warn that he is considered armed and extremely dangerous. The public is urged not to approach the suspect.
Anyone who knows the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately. Officials say tips can be submitted anonymously and will be forwarded to the Attala County Sheriff’s Office.
5:40 pm UPDATE — Two People Confirmed Dead
KOSCIUSKO, Miss. — Updated information indicates that two people have died as a result of the shooting Sunday afternoon on Attala Road 1107, off Highway 35 South.
Details about the victims’ identities or the circumstances leading to the shooting have not yet been released. It is also unclear whether law enforcement has made an arrest or is actively pursuing a suspect.
Officials continue to investigate.
4:05 pm:
KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A man was reported shot in Attala County Sunday afternoon.
The call came in about 1:50 p.m. The shooting was reported on Attala Rd. 1107, off Hwy.35 south.
When medics were dispatched the man was reported laying in the road.
Following the shooting a large crowd was reported at the Baptist-Attala emergency room. Several credible reports indicate at least one person has died. That has not yet been confirmed by authorities. Credbile reports also indicate that the sheriff’s department was pursuing a suspect.
It was unclear if an arrest was made. Boswell Media has reached out to the Attala County Sheriff’s Office for more information.
