Candidates have less than three weeks to qualify for an open seat in the state Senate, representing Leake, Neshoba and Winston counties. Governor Reeves has set a special election in District 18 after former senator Jenifer Branning won a State Supreme Court race in November. Voters will choose a new senator on April 15. The qualifying deadline is February 24.
