(Severe Thunderstorm Watch shown in pink on map above)
Our wet and stormy Memorial Day weekend is underway with much of this area under a severe thunderstorm watch until 6 pm and several local counties now facing a Level-2 “slight” risk of damaging winds and possible tornadoes today. The watch includes Attala, Leake and Holmes counties. There’s also a threat of flash flooding this afternoon and tonight mainly west of I-55. The flooding risk will expand areawide Sunday and Monday as additional heavy rain falls on saturated ground.
