A concert is planned Saturday in Amite County as Lynyrd Skynyrd fans prepare to mark the 49th anniversary of the plane crash that killed six people including the band’s leader, Ronnie Van Zant. And on Tuesday– the actual anniversary– you’ll hear a story on this radio station about Kosciusko’s connection to the 1977 crash.
The free concert begins at 11 am Saturday at the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument southwest of Magnolia. Four bands will be playing. Organizers posted on Facebook that “this is a special day for music lovers, longtime fans, friends and our community to gather at the Monument, share in the music, remember those we lost, honor those who survived and celebrate the legacy that continues to bring people together.”
