JACKSON, Miss.–State Sen. Jenifer Branning and four other state Supreme Court justices will be sworn in Jan. 6, according to a news release from the court.
Branning, of Neshoba County, was chosen by voters over incumbent Presiding Justice Jim Kitchens, in the general election and a runoff this November.
She is one of two new justices, the three others being re-elected to new terms.
David Sullivan defeated Assoc. Justice Dawn Beam, and will also be sworn in that day, along with the others who were re-elected.
The swearing in will be at 11 a.m. at the Gartin Justice Building in Jackson.
