PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–Five of the nine bridges being built in the Hwy. 19 expansion project in Neshoba County are done, with two more under constructionin the new northbound lanes, said Mississippi Dept. of Transportation Commissioner Willie Simmons, in an update at the end of last week.
The project is still on track to be completed in spring of 2028.
Two more bridges will be built when the northbound lanes are complete and traffic is switched to those lanes.
Simmons also said that all box culverts have been installed.
“We are well into maintenance and construction season here in central Mississippi, and I am pleased to report that significant progress is being made throughout the district,” said Simmons.
“Please continue to stay vigilant when driving in and around these work zones. Slow down, cut out driving distractions like cell phones, and watch out for our crews, contractors, and other roadside personnel.”
The project from House to Tucker is expected to cost nearly $100 million when complete.
