PEARL RIVER, Miss.–A member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in federal prison for shooting and killing another tribal member at a tribal home in the Bogue Chitto Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation
Brian Keith Bell, 56, of Pearl River, was sentenced this week after being found guilty of the murder of Devonte Bell, 24, of Philadelphia.
His trial was in September. Bell had been under indictment since last year.
The sentence was 380 months, which is just shy of 30 years. Because the shooting happened on tribal land, the matter was handled by the federal court.
Bell was convicted of second degree murder and use of a firearm in commnission of a crime.
Bell shot Devonte Bell in the chest during an argument.
