Several Crashes and a Disturbance Monday in Leake

Carthage Police responded to a collision between an 18-wheeler and a vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 16 and Hwy 35 early Monday morning around 1 a.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Throughout the day, authorities addressed several minor wrecks, including incidents on E Franklin St. at 7:40 a.m., the Piggly Wiggly parking lot at 4:27 p.m., and two crashes on Hwy 35—one near Hwy 488 at 11:28 a.m. and another near Cager Rd. at 1:30 p.m. None of these incidents resulted in injuries.

Later in the evening, Leake County deputies were dispatched to Sanders Ln. at 9:42 p.m. following reports of a disturbance. A neighbor reported a loud explosion from a fire and suspected fighting. Deputies investigated and found everything was in order.
