Early Morning Storm Damage, A Wreck, and More Monday in Leake

Leake County emergency crews responded to multiple incidents on Monday, March 24, starting with a fallen tree blocking one lane on Hwy 16 E near the sale barn at 5:03 a.m. Crews worked to clear the roadway.

At 7 a.m., Edinburg Volunteers were called to Pearl Hill Rd., where a tree fell on a power line, sparking a fire. The power company and county road crews were dispatched to handle the situation.

Later, at 7:25 a.m., Carthage Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 16 W in front of Leake Central Elementary. No injuries were reported.

In the afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., deputies and firefighters were sent to Hwy 487 E near Twin City for reports of a smoking vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found no signs of fire or smoke.
