The couple who died Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on their vehicle has been identified as Brandon Joseph Moore, 39 and Sandra Dee Moore, 40 according to Leake County Coroner, Earl Adams.
CARTHAGE, Miss.–Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in Leake County when a tree fell on their vehicle, said Leake Co. Coroner Earl Adams.
Adams said the tree fell onto the front compartment of the vehicle.
He was not ready to release names Sunday afternoon, pending the notification of the next of kin.
The wreck was reported about 1:20 p.m. on Mars Hill Rd. near Edinburg. Deputies were already tending to another wreck on Hwy. 25, and some of them were diverted to Mars Hill Rd., finding the couple dead when they arrived.
Adams said the couple was in their late 30s or early 40s.
Deputies and volunteer firefighters had been responding to calls through the afternoon about trees coming down in various places throughout the county because of the soggy ground.
