Gunmen Open Fire on Sleeping Teen in Philadelphia Residence

In the early hours of April 7, 2024, law enforcement responded to a call reporting that a man had been shot at a home in the 200 block of MLK Jr. Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered that an 18-year-old male, identified as Jamerson Coleman, had been shot multiple times in his arm, chest, and leg while he slept in his bedroom. Coleman resided in the same home with his parents.

Emergency medical services (EMS) quickly transported Coleman to a local hospital, from which he was later airlifted to a Jackson hospital for further treatment. Coleman is currently in stable condition.

The police investigation revealed several spent shell casings outside the residence, near the window of Coleman’s bedroom. Officers counted over 40 shots fired into the dwelling. Authorities believe Coleman was not the intended target of the attack and suspect that multiple gunmen were involved.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 601-656-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 1-855-485-TIPS.
