The worst of the heat stress in Mississippi is shifting to the south today.  Parts of the Delta, which have been hit hard this week, will see things easing up a little while it’ll get hotter across some areas in south Mississippi.  In this area, afternoon temperatures will still climb into the mid 90s with heat indices ranging from 106 in Kosciusko to 107 in Carthage and Philadelphia and 108 in Durant.  A heat advisory will be in effect from mid-morning until this evening.   Starting tomorrow, highs will be in the lower 90s.

The extreme heat warning which had included Holmes and Carroll counties on Tuesday will now extend from the Indianola and Greenwood areas to the south.

Tropical Storm Bertha will pass south of the Mississippi coast today and is forecast to come ashore in southeastern Louisiana by this evening before heading for Texas.
