Heat Stress Forecast to Increase into Next Week

The dangerously hot weather we’re experiencing in the local area this weekend will only get worse during the upcoming work week.  A heat advisory is posted from 11 am today through 9 pm Monday with an extreme heat warning to the northwest.  The advisory is likely to be extended through midweek and the warning could be expanded into other parts of the state.

The National Weather Service is forecasting highs in the mid 90s today with a heat index ranging from 105 in Philadelphia and Carthage to 106 in Kosciusko and 108 in Durant.  Monday and Tuesday, highs in the upper 90s are expected with a heat index Monday of 106 in Kosciusko, 107 in Carthage and Philadelphia and 109 in Durant.  Tuesday’s heat indices are forecast to range from 107 in Kosciusko to 108 in Philadelphia, 109 in Carthage and 110 in Durant.
