A tornado outbreak across Mississippi Saturday has resulted in at least six fatalities.  The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says three of those were in Walthall County, two in Jefferson Davis County and one in Covington County.  Additionally, the storms caused at least 29 injuries– 15 in Covington County, two in Jefferson Davis County, two in Pike County and ten in Walthall County.   The National Weather Service in Jackson says there’s no way, at this point, to estimate how many tornadoes may have touched down since there were at least a half-dozen long-track tornado-producing supercells– maybe more– which may have produced multiple touchdowns.  MEMA says damage has been reported in 21 counties.

Locally,  multiple trees and power lines were reported down on New Salem Road near Shady Grove in Attala County.   As of 7 am Sunday, 576 customers were without power in Montgomery County and 58 outages were reported in Carroll County.

Governor Reeves has declared a state of emergency as the recovery begins.
