High-Speed Chase Fizzles Near Leake Co.

LOUISVILLE, Miss.–A high-speed police chase had to be discontinued Friday night in Winston County, just before the car reached the Leake County line.

The chase reached speeds of more than 100 mph on Hwy. 25, just before 7:30 p.m.

Winston County deputies contacted Leake County deputies letting them know about the chase so they could be ready if the car crossed into Leake County at the Four Corners area.

It was unclear why the 2019 Hyundai Sonata was bring chased.

The vehicle is registered to someone from Lena.

As Leake County deputies were getting ready to possibly intercept the car, Winston County let them know that they had lost sight of the car and had stopped the pursuit.

It was unclear if Leake County authorities made any contact with that Sonata.
