Leake County area volunteer firefighters were dispatched Monday afternoon regarding an 18-wheeler that caught fire in the Marydell area. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on September 24 on Hwy 25.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the cab of the 18-wheeler was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.
The driver of the truck was able to get out of the truck and was unharmed. The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
