Several crashes, trespassers, and more Tuesday in Leake

Carthage Police responded to reports of an intoxicated person at Belhaven Apartments on S Valley St just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19th.

Officers were asked to remove an unwanted person from a residence on Alena Dr. at 5:18 a.m.

At 7 a.m., Leake County Deputies responded to calls reporting a white SUV was parked in the roadway on Hwy 16 W past MDOT.  The vehicle was found to be in a dangerous spot and was towed.

Leake County Deputies, EMS, and Reformation Volunteers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Waggoner Rd at 9:02 a.m.  The vehicles were blocking the roadway and were towed from the scene.  One person left the scene of the crash in a different vehicle.  Two people reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Carthage Police were called back to Alena Dr. just after noon for suspicious people in the area.

Officers responded to a minor two-vehicle wreck in the parking lot of a medical clinic on E Franklin St. at 2:20 p.m.  No injuries were reported.

Carthage Police were sent to N Pearl St. near the post office for a minor two-vehicle crash at 2:29 p.m.  No injuries were reported.

Leake Correctional Volunteer Fire Department and Carthage Fire Department were both dispatched to a grass fire on Okahoma Dr. at 3:49 p.m.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

Leake Deputies and MS Wildlife Fisheries and Parks were notified that a person was hunting on someone else’s property on Mapp Rd. in Lena at 4:10 p.m.
